The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of

15 Jan 15 - O'Donoghue/Ross

Years ago one of the better Irish art critics wrote something like this....

'O'Donoghue Ross carries his rather substantial subject matter rather lightly...'

Brilliant insight...that's what you look for in a good critic, like Beckett...or Hilary Pyle or Bill Zimmer of the NY Times...insight...that's their job and some do it rather well...

Critics have always been rather kind to me...at the end of the day it shouldn't matter...but it does...unfortunately...rather.

We are human beings we respond like any animal to praise...but what about the early Mattise or early and late Cezanne or a host of other genii...too many to mention who never heard a good word...

Ask yourself...what on earth had kept them at it ...only an incredible degree of self delusion..

Buddha..."this prison of the senses...delusion fashioned it!"
