Abstractions

Abstractions
****************************************

There have been various periods when O'Donoghue/Ross explored non-representational imagery in his work.  He called the initial series Fusions, since he used pure colour mixed with different vehicles of application - spirits, oils of various consistencies and viscosities - to create a 'fusion' of colour, flowing across the surface.  No brushes or other implements were used.

The series was quite popular, and O'Donohgue/Ross expanded to Floral Fusions for a time, added Night Visions and Fragments.  However, ultimately he felt that the abstract nature of such work was not fulfilling enough to continue with it; and he returned to his more surreal imagery which he has been focusing on for some years now.
