Hibernian Codex

Hibernian Codex
****************************************

This is one of the first large books Tighe created. The wood cover was distressed and stained, digital images affixed and enhanced, molten glass beads added.  The hammered bronze medallion, fashioned years before and by now well patinated and aged, had been left on a shelf to await a use.  It seemed perfect for the inclusion on the book cover.

Size: 80 x 66 x 7 cm

The title page, combining a digital image on vellum with free-form ink filigrees at the corners.

Tighe's long-time patron, Robert Pierse, pursued the purchase of this first of Tighe's large art books until the artist relented and personalized it with a dedication, expressing his appreciation for Robert's support through the years.

This page 7 in the book.  The artist revels in creating intricate images and pithy comments, with the letters of the words often hidden in the imagery.
This page 20 in the book looks back at us.
The last page of the Codex, with elaborate embellishment and a MAXIM quoted from Nietzsche.
This is the back cover of the Codex.  It mirrors the front cover with slightly different images and less decoration to insure a flat surface on which to rest the book.
